Islamic Center Expansion Project

Background

Islamic Society of Triplex (a non-profit religious organization) established Islamic Center of Beaumont in 1986 to serve the Muslim community of Golden Triangle area.

The Muslim Community in the Triplex area (Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, and joining counties) is approximately 800 local and immigrant Muslims.

Our Community is representative of physicians, engineers, professors, accountants, businessmen, students, teachers and retirees etc.

Activities and Services:

Since its inception the Islamic Center remained active in meeting its socio-religious obligation. An elected board of directors manages the center. Since 1990 a full time Imam has been provided to conduct its religious affairs.

Major activities at the Islamic Center could be summarized as:

Ø Five daily congregational Prayers.

Ø Friday congregational prayers.

Ø Taraweeh prayers (night vigil) and Iftar arrangements during Ramadhan (the 9th month of Islamic calendar in which it is obligatory for every sane and mature Muslim to fast).

Ø Islamic study program (Qur’an Hadith, fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Islamic history in English / Arabic and Urdu languages.

Ø Organizing Islamic celebrations.

Ø Weekend Islamic school for children.

Ø Full-time school for children (pre-k & Kindergarten).

Ø Dawah activities (external and internal).

Ø Islamic Library.

Ø Organizing Islamic Lectures and Seminars.

Ø Providing Islamic books and supplies.

Ø Funeral Services.

Ø Wedding Ceremonies.

Ø Family Counseling.

Ø Social Welfare.

Ø Promoting friendly relations between Muslims and members of other faiths.

Ø Providing religious counseling, Islamic literature and supplies to the Muslim inmates at the county, state and federal correctional facilities.

With the establishment of Islamic center not only its congregation is being served in a better way, a greater awareness of Islam is also being formulated in the area.
